Setting up Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication helps protect your account by adding an additional step to logging in. Caller ID Reputation supports highly secure, phishing resistant authentication via passkeys. For more information on how to set that up, click here.

However, if you are using a password, which we highly recommend setting a strong, secure one that you don't use on any other websites, or want additional security, you can set up two-factor authentication via a one-time PIN generated via an authentication app on your phone that is needed in order to access your account.

Authenticator Apps

There are many authenticator apps available for download on your platform of choice. Any authenticator app should work, however we will leave some commonly used authenticator apps and ones we recommend. Only one is needed.

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Once your app of choice is installed, head to your Settings, and click "Manage Account". You will be redirected.

Ensure that you are on the "Security" tab of your account.

Click the "Enable TOTP" button under the Two-Factor Authentication card.

In your authenticator app, find an "Add Account" button and scan the QR code. When complete you will have a 6-digit code that rotates every 30 seconds. Enter the code you see and click "Enable" to complete the process.

Now, the next time you or anyone else logs into your Caller ID Reputation account they will be prompted for a code. Enter the code you see in your authenticator app, and you're in!

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

If you need to disable Two-Factor Authentication, click "Disable" under Two-Factor Authentication in your Account Settings. You will be prompted for your authenticator code. Once entered, two-factor authentication will be disabled.

What happens if I lose/damage my device?

If you get locked out of your account due to not having your two factor codes, please contact us. We may ask to verify your identity via a phone call or email that is attached to the account to ensure you are who you say you are. If you change devices often, we recommend taking a full backup of your phone and/or using an authenticator such as Authy or ente Auth that offers cloud backups and easy restoration.
